New Year, New Chapter

As we welcome the New Year with open arms and embrace our 15th year of Gård Vintners, we reflect on what a crazy year 2020 was and it immediately brings us to gratitude for our amazing team, loyal club members, and enthusiastic wine lovers who kept us busier than expected during all the Covid closures and limitations. We thank you!

We are also thankful to our team for the exhaustive measures they take in order to provide a clean and safe experience at our tasting rooms (inside and out!), and feel extremely fortunate for the good health that has endured throughout the year.

The beginning of the New Year always brings an excitement to the farm with the optimism of a new year and new crop at the forefront of our motivation. 2021 will bring many exciting things for Gård:

  • New wines: Kvasir (our new Mourvedre-based blend), Pinot Noir and Albariño

  • New vineyard plantings: Cab Franc at Solaksen Vineyard and Sauv Blanc and Chenin Blanc at Corfu Crossing Vineyard

  • Expanded tasting room in Ellensburg: Once gatherings are allowed, we look forward to hosting private events here, as well!

  • Wine club: Freebies and special offers (and hopefully gatherings and events, including our annual vineyard tour which had to be cancelled this year)

  • Library offerings: We’ll be digging into the vault, look for some of your favs to be back in limited form!

  • Wine dinners: We have a to-go dinner and wine pairings planned in Woodinville this month (look for details on that soon) and we have a few in-person dinners in the works when social distancing guidelines allow!

  • An announcement about a new tasting room perhaps… look for more info in the coming year!

As always, we encourage your interaction with the Gård team!

  • We welcome your emails to wine@gardvintners.com with suggestions and feedback

  • We appreciate your positive reviews on social media, Google, Yelp and other spots - and spreading the love via word-of-mouth

  • We welcome your pictures of enjoying Gård wine at home, on the go, with a good meal, with friends and family (when we can be together again)

  • We welcome your comments and questions via social media

On a personal note, although Covid closures have been frustrating for our family of five that thrives on being involved in sports and activities and constantly on the go (I coach many of my kids’ sports, including my oldest daughter’s competitive softball team), we have enjoyed more family dinners than ever this year – along with more outdoor walks, more game nights and puzzles, more days on the Columbia River not far from our home, more family movie nights and more quiet time together. I’m sure you might echo that sentiment, as well! Although the framework of the year was different, we had many great highlights that can’t be overlooked – including a daughter who is learning to drive (yikes!), our second daughter who has found new ways to expand her love for the arts, and our son whose Lego mastery continues to amaze us daily!

So whatever this year might bring, we welcome it with open arms, an open heart and an open mind – and we raise a glass to you, skål!

In gratitude,

Lisa & Josh
