This is one of my favorite recipes we’ve created yet! It’s what I want to eat at a football watch party: Elevated football food that’s delicious, fresh but FULL flavored, and beautiful! Tender slow‑cooked buffalo chicken tacos are topped with crisp shredded veggies, sweet pickled peppers, and a cool, tangy blue cheese/ranch drizzle. They’re bite‑sized, bold, and built for sharing – the kind of game‑day app that disappears the second it hits the table.
As you may have guessed from the photos, we’re Seahawks fans through and through. These shots were taken at Tanya’s place, where she and my brother‑in‑law host their annual watch parties – all gathered around an old antique bar that our aunt and uncle salvaged from an underground Seattle speakeasy. It’s got history, good energy, and the perfect game‑day vibes. Here’s hoping this shoot helps manifest some playoff magic all the way to the Super Bowl!

Game Day Buffalo Chicken Street Tacos with Blue Ranch Drizzle
Recipe by Tanya Miller & Jen Cochran (we’re a pretty great team, if I do say so myself)
Serves: ~6 as an appetizer
Suggested wine pairing: 2024 Rosé or 2022 Grenache
INGREDIENTS:
- ~1 lb chicken breasts or thighs
- ½ c chicken stock
- Street taco tortillas
- Avocado or high heat oil for brushing tortillas
- ¾ c Frank’s buffalo wing sauce, divided
- ~2 Tbsp butter
- ½ medium onion, diced
- 1-1 ½ c cabbage, finely shredded (we used both purple and green for color; a mandoline makes perfectly shredded cabbage)
- 2-3 carrots, very finely diced (a mini food processor works great for the carrots and celery)
- 1 stalk celery, very finely diced
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced, divided
- Diced red pickled peppers (we used Petits Poivrons which are sweet mini peppers; pickled Peppadew would be a great substitute)
- Chives or green onion, finely diced
- Uncle Dan’s Classic Ranch mix (or Ranch dressing mix of choice – but we highly recommend Uncle Dan’s)
- 2-3 T buttermilk or cream
- ½ c your favorite blue cheese dressing
- Optional: Blue cheese crumbles
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a slow cooker, add butter, chicken stock, 2 tsp Uncle Dan’s dry mix, ½ c buffalo sauce, onion, butter and 2-3 cloves garlic. Stir to combine. Add chicken and cook on high for approx 3 hrs, turning the chicken once or twice. It should shred easily. If it doesn’t, just cook it a little longer.
- While the chicken cooks, prep veggies. Make blue cheese ranch drizzle: Combine ½ c of blue cheese dressing in a jar with 2 tsp ranch mix, 1 clove garlic, and 2-3 tbsp buttermilk and or cream to thin it out. Adjust to your liking with more or less of the ingredients. Add blue cheese crumbles, if using.
- Shred the chicken in the slow cooker with all the sauce. Taste for heat and flavor. We added another 1/4 c of Frank’s at the end to make it just right.
- Put the tortillas on a sheet pan and lightly brush each side with avocado oil. Broil for ~2 min on the first side and ~1 min on the second side, depending on your broiler, until you see a touch of color.
- Assemble the “tacos” on the sheet pan. Layer the chicken, cabbage, carrots, celery and peppers. Top them with the chives and drizzle with sauce. Serve with a chilled glass of 2024 Rosé or 2022 Grenache and you have a delightful, delicious pairing!!!
