Halloween is quickly approaching and what better occasion to enjoy our 2019 Boneyard blend! This is the first release of this 50% Syrah and 50% Grenache Rhone blend, and it has become another fan favorite. Aged in neutral French oak 500L barrels, this wine has a youthful and lively expression, showcasing the unique varietal character.
This Grenache in this blend is sourced from our estate vineyard Corfu Crossing. The Syrah is sourced from Boneyard vineyard which we farm in partnership with our farm manager and his wife, Tom and Sharon Freeman. When the Freeman family acquired this property and built the family home, they unearthed all sorts of items in their development efforts. They call it the "boneyard" because of the many relics, including animal bones, on the land and in the soils. A little spooky, right?
The bouquet presents red and black fruits such as plum skin, black berries, dried cranberry, raspberry puree and black tea. The palate is forward and dominated by red, sweeter fruit and abundant acidity, creating a brighter, approachable style. The Syrah provides structure, acidity and spice, while the Grenache contributes brighter, juicy red fruit to balance.
The 2019 Boneyard will pair with some full-flavored harvest dishes, such as cinnamon pumpkin soup, zucchini sausage lasagna or chanterelle mushroom beef stew! Treat yourself this Halloween and pick up some 2019 Boneyard at one of our four locations or find it online. It's hauntingly delicious!
